Adding Leads to your campaign
Once your campaign is created (or during creation), you need to add prospects who will receive your outreach sequence.
Method 1: From Specific Companies
This is the most common workflow:
Navigate to an ICP in your ICPs section
Click "Find Leads" to search for prospects at a specific company
Review the lead list and select prospects you want to reach
Click "Add to Campaign" at the bottom of the screen
Select "Create New Campaign"
The campaign builder opens with these leads already included
Complete the campaign setup
When you launch the campaign, these pre-selected leads are automatically enrolled.
Method 2: Add Leads to Existing Campaign
If you already have a campaign created and want to add more leads:
Find leads through your ICP company research or AI Lead Search
Select the prospects you want to add
Click "Add to Campaign"
Select an existing campaign from the dropdown
Click "Add to Campaign"
Leads are enrolled in the existing campaign sequence
The newly added leads will start at step 1 of the sequence, regardless of where other leads are in the campaign.
Method 3: Import Your Own Contacts
If you have an existing list of contacts:
Navigate to AI Lead Search
Select "Import Contacts" or "Upload CSV"
Upload your file with prospect information (name, company, email, LinkedIn URL, etc.)
Map the fields from your file to Eve's fields
Select the imported contacts
Add them to a new or existing campaign
This is useful when you have lists from events, purchased lists (ensure compliance), or CRM exports.
Quality Over Quantity: Don't add every possible lead to a campaign. Be selective:
Match Score: Prioritize leads with higher match scores (70+)
Relevance: Ensure the lead's role aligns with your target persona
Seniority: Match seniority level to your product (don't pitch enterprise solutions to junior staff)
Company Fit: Verify the company matches your ICP criteria
Review Before Adding: Before clicking "Add to Campaign," review:
Job titles match your target persona
Companies are truly relevant to your offering
Contact information looks accurate and current
There are no obvious disqualifiers (wrong industry, too small/large, etc.)
Batch Appropriately:
Small Batches (50-100 leads): Better for testing messaging and monitoring closely
Medium Batches (100-300 leads): Standard for most campaigns
Large Batches (300+ leads): Only when you're confident in messaging and targeting
Start smaller to validate your approach before scaling.
Campaign Size Considerations:
Small Campaigns (50-100 leads):
Easier to monitor and manage
Good for testing new messaging or targeting
Quicker to complete and analyze
More personalized attention possible
Medium Campaigns (100-300 leads):
Balanced approach for most situations
Generates meaningful data for analysis
Manageable monitoring burden
Standard for ongoing prospecting
Large Campaigns (300+ leads):
High-volume approach for proven messaging
Requires disciplined monitoring and response handling
Best when you're confident in campaign performance
Can take weeks or months to fully complete
Ongoing Lead Addition: You don't have to add all leads at once. You can:
Launch a campaign with 100 leads
Add 50 more leads the following week
Continue adding as you find qualified prospects
Keep campaigns "alive" with fresh prospects
Before Campaign Launch: Easily remove leads from a draft campaign by selecting them and navigating to the bottom right of the screen to select "reject prospects"
After Campaign Launch: You can still remove individual leads from active campaigns:
Within the campaign itself you can select individual leads and remove them from the campaign using the "reject prospect" button.
Removing a lead stops all future outreach to that prospect in this campaign. Previous messages already sent cannot be unsent.
Q: How many leads should I add to a new campaign? A: For your first campaign with new messaging, start with 50-100 leads. This allows you to monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. Once you've validated the campaign is performing well (good open/reply rates, positive responses), add more leads or scale to 200-300 leads per campaign.
Q: Can I add the same lead to multiple campaigns? A: Technically yes, but it's generally not recommended. Adding the same prospect to multiple active campaigns means they'll receive different sequences simultaneously, which creates confusion and appears disorganized. Use the "Exclude leads in existing campaigns" option to prevent this. However, you can add someone to a new campaign after a previous campaign to them has completed.
Q: What happens if I add a lead who's already in the campaign? A: Eve will detect duplicates and prevent adding the same lead twice to the same campaign. You'll see a notification that the lead is already enrolled.
Q: Can I add leads to a campaign that's already running? A: Yes. You can add leads to active campaigns at any time. Newly added leads start at step 1 of the sequence, while existing leads continue at their current step. This is useful for keeping campaigns active with fresh prospects as you identify them.
Q: What if I accidentally add the wrong leads to a campaign? A: Before launching, simply remove them from the lead list in the campaign editor. After launching, you can still remove individual leads from the campaign's prospect management section. Any messages already sent can't be unsent, so review carefully before launching.
Q: Should I import my entire CRM contact list into a campaign? A: No. Be selective. Only import contacts who match your ICP and target persona. Importing your entire CRM without filtering will result in poor targeting, low engagement, and wasted outreach. Quality targeting is more important than volume.
Q: Can I add leads from different companies to the same campaign? A: Yes, this is standard. Campaigns typically include leads from many different companies who all match your ICP criteria and target persona. The messaging is personalized for each lead based on their company and role, even though they're in the same campaign structure.
Q: What's the difference between "Finding Leads" at companies vs. "AI Lead Search"? A:
Finding Leads at Companies: Searches for prospects at specific companies you've identified in your ICPs. Use this for targeted account-based approaches.
AI Lead Search: Broader search across all companies matching your criteria. Use this to cast a wider net and find prospects beyond your pre-identified ICP companies.
Both methods can feed leads into campaigns—choose based on whether you're doing targeted account-based outreach or broader market outreach.
Q: If I remove a lead from a campaign, can I add them to a different campaign immediately? A: Yes. Removing a lead from one campaign makes them available for other campaigns immediately. However, consider whether the prospect has already received messaging from you recently—space out campaigns to the same person to avoid over-outreach.
Q: How many campaigns can a single lead be in at one time? A: Eve allows a lead to be in multiple campaigns simultaneously, but this is poor practice. Use the "Exclude leads in existing campaigns" setting to prevent this. Prospects receiving multiple sequences from you simultaneously will be confused and likely annoyed.
